ARDEX SK12 - Polypropylene geotextile reinforcement strip

ARDEX SK 12 polypropylene geotextile waterproofing reinforcement strip consists of a polypropylene non-woven fabric backing, laminated on both sides with polyurethane coating. It is supplied in rolls 120 mm wide and 50 m long.

The material is waterproof, easy to cut with a knife or scissors, easily embeddable in the waterproofing layers, does not crease and has a high adhesion to waterproofing substances.

The reduced thickness of the material allows for a virtually transition-free coating in ARDEX 8+9 applications.

ARDEX SK 12 is breathable, allowing adequate drying of the underlayers.

Storage:

In original packaging, keep in cool, dry places, for about 24 months.

Field of application:

Indoors and outdoors. Walls and floors.

• - In wet and damp rooms without surface water pressure.
• - In permanently wet rooms, also with water pressure, e.g. in swimming pools.
• - Outdoors, such as balconies, pergolas and terraces.
• - In industrial areas, such as large kitchens, breweries and similar.
• - Can be used as a reinforcement for waterproofing with ARDEX SK100W.

ARDEX SK 12 for waterproof bridging of expansion joints, marginal and junction joints as well as for connections to drains and pipe penetrations.

Can be used in a system with ARDEX waterproofing products.

Substrate preparation:

The warnings contained in the technical data sheets of ARDEX waterproofing products must be heeded.

Depending on the calculated dilatation, the joint openings must be of sufficient width and, if the formation of a loop is desired, they must have bevelled edges.

How to use:

ARDEX SK 12 is quickly applied to the 1st waterproofing layer and pressed down tightly with a smoothing trowel or spatula. In expansion joints, the strip can be slightly dipped so that it forms a loop to serve as a reserve for further expansion.

The waterproofing compound must be prevented from penetrating into the expansion space below. At the edges, the sealing strip, corners and seals must overlap by at least 5 cm or be covered by the sealing compound used in each case. After the incorporation of all parts of the waterproofing reinforcement, the application of the second layer of the selected waterproofing product can begin. In the mobile area (e.g. of the expansion joint) a space of equal width must be left free of the waterproofing material.

Recommendations:

ARDEX SK 12 waterproofing tape should not be used in direct contact with waterproofing agents or glues containing solvents.

In areas of particular exposure to aggressive chemical loads and loads from oils, fuels or alcohols, advice on application techniques should be sought prior to use.

In case of doubt, test applications should be carried out or a compatibility test should be carried out.
