Description:
Permanently elastic, mineral filled material with PU (Polyurethane) binders and textile backing.
Substrate preparation:
The substrate must be dry and must be firm, load-bearing, free of dust and separating agents and rigid. On absorbent substrates, the mortar should be applied in a thin layer and screeded by pressing firmly onto the substrate. After this, reapply the mortar in the required thickness. Dense, smooth, impervious surfaces and wooden surfaces should be primed with ARDEX P 82. Uneven surfaces should be primed and levelled with ARDEX products. DS 40 matting bridges cracks up to 1 mm.
Application:
To prevent sound transmission to adjacent walls, install soundproofing strips along walls. Roll out the ARDEX DS 40 mats and cut them. ARDEX DS 40 mats can be easily cut on the underside (black) with a carpet knife or cutter. Apply ARDEX FB9 or ARDEX FB9L with a 3 mm notched trowel, if the surface is rough use a 4 mm notched trowel, and spread the ARDEX DS 40 mats within the open time of the adhesive, 10 to 15 minutes, with the textile side (black) on the fresh mortar bed. Press down the matting with a trowel or trowel. Make sure that the mats are fixed with no open joints between them. If adhesive protrudes through the joints, lift the mats, clean them and repeat the installation. Always fix the mats to joint breakers. On an absorbent substrate, subsequent tile installation can be done immediately after laying the ARDEX DS 40 mats.
In the case of non-absorbent substrates, after 2 hours. Before laying, check the ARDEX DS 40 mats and cover the joints with Tesa or Nopi adhesive tape. Joints can also be filled with ARDEX S1K sealing compound. ARDEX FB9, ARDEX FB9L or ARDEX DITRA FBM are recommended for the installation of overlays. For the installation of moisture-sensitive natural stone, ARDEX S16 and ARDEX X32 are recommended. Please ensure a solid substrate. The coverings to be installed must have a minimum size of 15 x 15 cm and a fracture strength of 1500 N. Stoneware tiles must have a minimum thickness of 8 mm and natural stone tiles a minimum thickness of 15 mm.
For installation on an existing PVC, parquet, ceramic or natural stone floor, the ARDEX Premium UF2800 fixing must be used and applied with a wool roller. After a short time of about 30 minutes, the ARDEX DS 40 mats can be installed and pressed down. The coverings can then be laid in the manner described above. To fill the joints, use ARDEX FS or ARDEX MG.
General Information
Apply ARDEX DS 40 at temperatures above + 5° C. In case of doubt, pre-apply in test areas. Please note that structural and expansion joints in substrates must be respected. Do not use ARDEX DS40 outdoors or in permanently wet areas.
