The substrate must be dry, hard, solid and free of grout, grease, dust or other loose particles such as paint, release agents, remains of lime, mortar, plaster, adhesive residues, etc., which may impair adhesion to the substrate. Before mechanical preparation, varnish, wax, grease, oil and similar contaminants must be removed.
The preparation of the substrate must be carried out with specialised machinery; sanding, milling or grinding, using one or the other depending on the state of the substrate. Subsequently, the substrate shall be vacuumed.
Any joints or cracks in the concrete substrate where differential movement is foreseen (e.g. expansion joints) must be respected and properly sealed.
In the case of new concrete, SEIREPOX IMPRIMACIÓN should be applied at least 28 days after the concrete has been laid. In summer and in warm areas this time may be shortened but it must always be ensured that the humidity of the substrate is less than 4% before application.
The individual components of SEIREPOX IMPRIMACIÓN must be stirred before mixing.
Mix the two components thoroughly with a low speed stirrer for a minimum of 3 minutes.
Part of the mixture can be reintroduced into the hardener container to collect any residues that may remain in the container. The mixture that has been passed through the hardener container is reintroduced into the mixing container and stirred for a further 30 seconds. This mixing process ensures the consistency of the product and that any resin remaining in either container reacts, facilitating subsequent waste management.
After mixing both components, 1Kg of SEIREPOX IMPRIMACIÓN, is workable for 30 minutes at a temperature between l8°C and 20°C.
After mixing the two components of SEIREPOX IMPRIMACIÓN CERÁMICA, use it immediately. During the final pot-life of the mixture and due to its strong reactivity, a heat build-up will develop causing a sharp decrease of the pot-life. The higher the amount of resin remaining in the container, the higher the heat will be.
In these cases (high temperature) do not touch the can. If fumes are generated, put the lid on without closing it and holding it by the handle, place it in a cold and well ventilated place or outside, to avoid the accumulation of gases.
Keep in mind that higher temperatures shorten the time of use and lower temperatures lengthen it.
Always use SEIREPOX IMPRIMACIÓN CERÁMICA with ambient and/or substrate temperatures not lower than lODC and always at least 3°C above the dew point.
Nor can it be applied at ambient and/or substrate temperatures above 30°C or when the ambient humidity exceeds 85%. If the pot-life is exceeded the mixed product loses its characteristics and must be discarded.
Mode of application:
1.-Acting as a hardener for concrete floors:
Apply SEIREPOX IMPRIMACIÓN generously on the substrate with the help of a rubber squeegee and even out and comb through with a wire or short/medium nap roller. A single application is sufficient. On very absorbent and porous substrates, if necessary, a second coat should be applied 12 to 24 hours after applying the first coat.
2.-Acting as a filler for cracks and cut joints:
Deepen by drilling holes in the fissure up to 2/3 of the thickness of the screed, separating the holes by 10 cm. The minimum diameter of the holes shall be 12 mm. Make a cut with a circular saw perpendicular to the direction of the crack and, if necessary, reinforce with metal staples.
Before filling with SEIREPOX IMPRIMACIÓN, vacuum and blow out the cracks, holes and cuts to remove all dust and dirt.
Non-continuous fine cracks can be filled with SEIREPOX IMPRIMACIÓN without using the product as a filler. As a general rule, SEIREPOX IMPRIMACIÓN can be mixed with fine silica sand.
In the case of 5 mm wide cracks, we recommend a mixing ratio (by weight) of approximately 1 : 0.5 part SEIREPOX IMPRIMACIÓN with 0.4 mm filler sand. For wider cracks, higher dosages of the filler should be sought.
3.-Acting as a primer for epoxy and polyurethane products:
Apply SEIREPOX PRIMER by brush or short/medium nap roller.
The primer must be completely dry to the touch, waiting a minimum of 16 hours at 20ºC before applying the finishing coats.
Never wait more than 48 hours at 20ºC. Otherwise, sanding and re-priming will be necessary.
When applying dry resin mortars, the primer must be fresh. In multi-layer systems the primer should be dusted with sand.
The approximate consumption of SEIREPOX IMPRIMACIÓN CERÁMICA is 200 to 300 gr/m2.
SEIREPOX IMPRIMACIÓN CERÁMICA can be cleaned from tools and equipment immediately after use using a solvent such as ARDEX RTC. In case the product hardens it can only be removed by mechanical means.
Spillage of any of the products must be collected immediately with sand, vermiculine or other inert material and deposited in a suitable container for disposal. Waste management of these spills and empty containers should be carried out in accordance with local legislation.
For further information refer to the safety data sheet.
The shelf life of SEIREPOX IMPRIMACIÓN CERÁMICA is 12 months, in the original closed containers. Storage should be in a dry place between +5° C and +30° C. Protection from frost and direct sunlight and heat sources is required.
Irritating to eyes and skin, depending on sensitivity. Hazardous to health if swallowed.
In case of prolonged exposure may cause burns. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice.
Mixing should be carried out with protective goggles and gloves. These safety precautions must also be observed when applying the product.
If the product is applied indoors, ensure good ventilation of the room. For further information see the safety data sheet. After drying the product is physiologically and ecologically neutral.
