Product description:
Powder with special cements and plasticisers, with good dispersing capacity and flexible action.
Mixed with water, an elastic, plastic mortar is obtained, which hardens by hydration and retains all the mixing water in crystalline form.
Preparation of the substrate:
The base must be dry, firm, resistant and free of dust, impurities or loose particles.
Gypsum and anhydrite substrates must be prepared according to the BEB instruction sheet and carefully cleaned with an industrial hoover. To bind the residual dust, first apply a thin layer of mortar by pressing it onto the substrate with the smooth side of the trowel and then apply the fresh mortar on top of the fresh mortar with the notched side of the trowel.
ARDEX P51 primer diluted with water in a ratio of 1:3 can also be used to bind the residual dust. When plastering gypsum materials, a pre-primer is always necessary.
Smooth, non-porous substrates, such as tile coverings, metal, glass, lacquer varnishes, coatings by means of paints and the like, should be pre-treated with a coat of ARDEX P82 primer.
Directions for use:
Pour clear water into a clean mixing container and add ARDEX S22 powder, stirring vigorously, until an elastic, lump-free mortar is formed.
The consistency of the mortar should be adjusted according to the intended application, the thickness of the layer, the type of substrate and the size of the pieces.
When laying medium bed mortar and levelling work on floor surfaces, mix each 25 kg bag of ARDEX S22 with approx. 8.25 litres of water.
The working time of the mortar at 20°C is approx. 30-50 minutes. After this, hardening begins.
Mortar in the setting process should not be diluted with water, stirred and fresh mortar should not be added. High temperatures shorten the time of use of the product and low temperatures lengthen it.
Laying on floors:
Spread the mortar on the substrate and comb vertically with a notched trowel. ARDEX S22 can also be applied using the conventional method (thick-bed mortar) up to a mortar thickness of 20 mm. The mortar should only be spread on surfaces of sufficient size to allow the pieces to be placed and fitted effortlessly into the damp, pasty mortar bed. The application time, if the mortar is spread immediately after mixing, is approx.
10 minutes. The pieces laid on the floor can be walked on and can be grouted approx. 3 hours after laying.
Laying on walls:
Spread the mortar on the back of the tiles in the appropriate thickness and adjust and tap as in the normal thick mortar process.
in the normal thick mortar process.
General rule:
For waterproofing measures ARDEX waterproofing should be applied.
ARDEX S22 must not be used outdoors and in permanently wet areas or in swimming pools.
For grouting marble slabs and other moisture-sensitive natural stone slabs, ARDEX MG special mortar must be used. ARDEX N23 or ARDEX S16 should be used for thin-bed grouting of natural stone slabs.
In case of doubt, carry out a tile test.
ARDEX S22 must be applied at temperatures above +5°C and below +30°C.
Precautions:
Contains cement, alkaline reaction, therefore protect eyes and skin. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and consult a doctor.
In set state, it is physiologically and ecologically harmless.
GISCODE ZP 1 = product with cement content, low in chromate.
