Description

Field of application:

Visitable roofs and roofs that will not support traffic in:

  • Waterproofing of new construction.
  • Re-waterproofing and renovation of deteriorated waterproofing systems such as granulated bituminous sheeting.
  • Waterproofing of roof tiles.
  • Protection of polyurethane foam.
  • Applicable on flat roofs with zero slope.
  • Waterproofing of vertical surfaces.

Product description:

One-component, coloured coating based on a hybrid polyurethane-acrylic polymer in aqueous dispersion, which generates a waterproof and elastic film which, without the need for extra protection, is resistant to atmospheric agents and to colour change due to the effects of UV radiation.

Permanent elasticity, even at low temperatures, being able to absorb movements of the substrate.

Environmentally friendly: Solvent-free, low VOC, no ADR.

Colours White, Grey and Red.

After hardening HUMISTOP WP170 is waterproof, frost and weather resistant. HUMISTOP WP170 is breathable to water vapour.

Substrate preparation:

The substrate must be hard and solid and free of dust or other loose particles such as paint, lime residues, mortar, plaster, adhesive residues, etc., which may impair adhesion to the substrate.

The substrate may be damp (max. 6%) but not wet or waterlogged.

Before mechanical preparation, varnish, wax, grease, oil and similar contaminants must be removed. Contaminated concrete or mortar surfaces must be treated mechanically, either by sanding or diamond grinding, followed by vacuuming.

Joints or cracks without movement are filled with a paste which can be prepared with the product itself and fine, clean silica sand. Allow to dry before coating. Cracks larger than 1 mm must be filled with ARDIFLEX elastic filler.

Any joints or cracks in the concrete substrate where deferential movement is anticipated (e.g. expansion joints), must be respected and suitably sealed.

Primer:

Depending on the porosity of the concrete or mortar substrate, it is advisable to apply a thin coat of primer, consisting of the product HUMISTOP WP170 itself diluted with water up to a maximum of 50%.

On very alkaline and/or very closed substrates, consult the Technical Department.

During application and curing, especially in confined areas, adequate ventilation must be ensured.

Instructions for use:

Before applying HUMISTOP WP170 it must be stirred for proper homogenisation.

Once the primer is dry, pour HUMISTOP WP170 on the surface and spread with a brush or wool roller until the desired film thickness is achieved. It can also be applied by airless system.

The application of successive coats will be done when the previous one can be walked on without any noticeable tackiness. For singular points it is recommended to reinforce HUMISTOP WP 70 with geotextile embedded in the first coat of product.

This same treatment, which ensures a minimum thickness, shall be applied to provide an improvement in the strength properties of the membrane.

Limitations:

Always use HUMISTOP WP170 at ambient and/or substrate temperatures not lower than +5°C and always at least 3°C above the dew point.

Nor can it be applied at ambient and/or substrate temperatures above +30°C or when the ambient humidity exceeds 85%.

exceeds 85%.

Avoid application in rainy and/or windy conditions or when frost is expected.

All Ardex products are manufactured under strict quality controls and procedures, however, when colour consistency is essential, it is recommended that the products used are from the same batch.

The membrane must be visible.

Cleaning of tools:

HUMISTOP WP170 can be cleaned from tools and equipment with water immediately after use. If the product hardens, it can only be removed by mechanical means or organic solvents.

Residues/Spills:

Spillage of any of the products must be collected Immediately with sand, vermiculite or any other inert material and deposited in a suitable container for management.

Waste management of these spills and empty containers should be carried out in accordance with local legislation.

For further information refer to the Safety Data Sheet.

Precautions:

Must not come into contact with ears or skin and must not be ingested. During application avoid contact with eyes, nostrils, mouth or skin.

Avoid contact with the hands by protecting them with gloves and with the eyes by wearing suitable protective goggles. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. In case of contact with skin, wash immediately with soap and water (do not use solvents). In case of accidental ingestion of the product, seek immediate medical attention, do not induce vomiting. In case of accident, seek medical advice.
