Field of application:
For the processing of cementitious screeds in bonding, on separating layers and on insulation layers.
Repair and restoration of cement screeds.
Discolouration-free laying (staining and efflorescence) of tiles made of natural marble, Jura marble, granite, quartzite and others.
ARDEX A35 MIX screeds have the following properties:
They can be walked on after only 3 hours if they are laid floating on a plastic separator. After 1 day they are ready for laying floor coverings and after 1 day they reach the minimum strength according to DIN 18560.
Complies with the regulations and standards DIN 18560 and DIN 18353 for cementitious screeds. The rapid hardening of ARDEX A 35 MIX quick setting mortar should be taken into account.
For interior use.
Application on underfloor heating:
When ARDEX A 35 MIX is used on underfloor heating using hot water, the waiting time until the screed is laid can be reduced to less than 2 weeks, as ARDEX A 35 MIX reaches its equilibrium moisture content within one day. 3 days after laying, heating will start with an outlet temperature of 25°C, which should be maintained for 3 days.
Afterwards, the maximum outlet temperature is regulated and maintained for a further 4 days. During the heating process, the effects of draughts must be avoided.
During laying, the surface temperature of the underfloor heating screed should not be reduced below 15°C.
ARDEX A 35 MIX can withstand thermal loads up to 65°C.
Instructions for use:
Appropriate mixers are used to prepare the mortar mixture. The mixing ratio for a 100 litre mixer is as follows:
150 kg of ARDEX A 35 MIX (6 original bags):
12 litres of water (2 litres of water per 25 kg bag of ARDEX A35 MIX).
Mixing and extraction equipment suitable for rapid hardening screed mixes can be used.
For small areas and for repair work, small portable mixers with forced circulation are also suitable.
Additives must not be used. It must not be mixed with other types of cement.
The working time of ARDEX A 35 MIX is approximately 45 minutes. Mixing, placing, levelling and smoothing must be carried out without interruption. Surfaces should only be of sufficient size so that they can be finished within this working time.
Higher temperatures shorten the working and hardening times, lower temperatures lengthen them.
Floor or partial surface joints are sealed against height displacement by means of round steel. Expansion and shrinkage joints must be provided, as with traditional concrete screeds.
Bonded screeds / bonding bridge:
To make bonded screeds, a barbotine is first produced to act as a bonding bridge.
ARDEX A 35 MIX is mixed with ARDEXP 51 adhesive dispersion diluted with water (1:1) or ARDEX E 100. The mixing ratio is: 25 kg of ARDEX A 35 MIX : 1.75 litres of water : 1.75 kg of ARDEX P 51 or ARDEX E 100. The ARDEX A 35 MIX mortar is added to the still wet slurry.
In the case of high absorption capacity, the primer should first be applied diluted with ARDEX P 51 or ARDEX E 100 and water at a ratio of 1 : 1. The barbotine is applied fresh on fresh.
Repair work:
The edges of the old screed must be coated with ARDEX FB flowable resin or ARDEX EP 2000 epoxy resin. ARDEX A 35 MIX rapid mortar is applied over the fresh epoxy resin.
Laying of coatings:
After 3 hours, ARDEX A 35 MIX is suitable for the immediate laying of resilient or textile floor coverings, if ARDEX K55 flexible mortar is applied.
ARDEX A 35 MIX can be fully utilised after only one day. Levelling work can then be carried out, as well as the laying of floor coverings and parquet or tiles.
In the case of bonded screeds that have been laid after the concrete base has been levelled, the entire construction must be allowed to dry before the screed is laid.
Maturity for laying:
Moisture measurements should be taken to check the maturity for laying, which will be reached, in the case of correct treatment, after 1 day.
Due to the specific properties and composition, the moisture content of ARDEX A35 MIX cannot be detected by electrical measuring instruments, but only with a carbide hygrometer.
Maturity is considered to have been reached when the moisture content is ≤ 2 %.
Laying of natural stone tiles
The laying of natural stone using ARDEX A 35 MIX is always carried out in conjunction with the load-bearing base, cement screed or concrete. As described above, the barbotine is applied and then the ARDEX A 35 MIX mortar is applied fresh on fresh at the appropriate height. The mixing ratio is: 25 kg ARDEX A 35 MIX : 2.25 l water. The mortar should only be spread on surfaces of a size that allows the tiles to be laid and tapped into the still wet mortar bed.
When laying crystalline marble with translucent properties, the backs of the tiles should be generously coated over the entire surface with ARDEX S 27W quick adhesive.
For natural stone tiles with smooth or dense backs, ARDEX N23 or ARDEX S28 is then used.
Recommendations:
For dynamic loads up to 1.5 kN/m2 , regularly distributed in residential construction, with regard to the cement screed on an insulating layer - depending on the possibility of compression of the insulating layer - , a minimum screed thickness of 35 mm is valid. Under stone and ceramic coverings, the screed thickness must be at least 45 mm.
The thickness for floating cement screeds must be a minimum of 35 mm, and in the case of bonded screeds a minimum of 10 mm.
ARDEX A 35 MIX is not suitable for exterior or permanently wet areas.
ARDEX A 35 MIX must be used at temperatures above 5°C.
When in doubt, it is recommended to carry out tests.
Caution:
Contains cement. Reacts alkaline. It is therefore necessary to protect skin and eyes.
In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water. In case of contact with eyes, a doctor should also be consulted.
Physiologically and ecologically harmless once set.
GISCODE ZP1 = product with cement content, low in chromate.
