Description

EC1     Efecto Arduraid

Self-levelling mortar for commercial surfaces, walkable in 2-3 hours, for indoor use. Applicable from 1 to 15 mm. For thicknesses of 1 to 15 mm. EC1 very low emission.

For the creation of smooth surfaces for the placement of ceramic tiles, natural stone, raised floors, light coverings, ... in residential and commercial buildings subject to light or medium traffic

  • Cement-based
  • Mortar for covering, levelling and levelling
  • For thicknesses of 1 to 15 mm
  • Walkable after 2-3 hours
  • With a single coat, it prepares the surfaces to be covered
  • Does not crack in layers of up to 15 mm
  • Pumpable
  • Very low emission level
  • Certified according to EN 13813: CT C35-F7

Field of application:

For interiors.

Levelling and smoothing of concrete floors, cement and sand screeds, anhydrite or ceramic or natural stone coverings.

Creation of smooth surfaces for the placement of ceramic pieces, natural stone, raised floors, light coverings, ... in residential and commercial buildings subject to light or medium traffic.

Composition:

Grey powder with special cements and synthetic materials with good dispersion capacity.

Mixed with water, it results in a soft, fluid and self-levelling mortar. Pumpable. It can be worked for 30 minutes and is walkable after 2-3 hours.

The mortar hardens by hydration and dries quickly into a mass with almost no tension. Maximum safety when installing coverings.

Preparation of supports:

The support must be dry, hard, solid, rough and free of disintegrable elements.

To prevent the appearance of air bubbles and improve adhesion on porous substrates, these must be pre-treated with ARDEX P51 primer, diluted with water in a 1:1 ratio. This layer must be applied over the entire surface using an industrial broom. Rollers or mops must not be used for application. Care must be taken not to leave puddles; if there are any, they should be removed using a broom or brush. Once ARDEX P51 has been applied, allow it to dry for at least 1 hour before applying ARDEX K170.

Highly absorbent substrates will require the application of two layers of ARDEX P51 to prevent the appearance of bubbles or craters. The first layer of ARDEX P51 must be applied diluted 1:3 with water. Once the first layer is dry (min. 1 hour) a second layer can be applied diluted 1:1 with water.

Once the last coat of ARDEX P51 has been applied, it must be allowed to dry for at least 1 hour before applying ARDEX K170.

For non-absorbent substrates, ARDEX P82 or ARDEX P4 primers should be used.

If ARDEX P82 is used, apply it with a short-nap roller, leaving a thin transparent pink layer, without leaving puddles or thick layers. Once applied, ARDEX P82 is allowed to dry until a sticky film is generated (at least one hour) before applying the self-levelling agent.

If ARDEX P4 is used, it should be applied uniformly with a short-nap roller, brush or by spraying. The primer should be allowed to dry for at least 1 hour until a thin white layer is obtained. ARDEX P4 can be applied on absorbent substrates diluted 15% with water.

If in doubt, carry out a prior test.

Instructions for use:

Pour clear water into a clean container and stir the powder vigorously until a lump-free, fluid mortar is obtained.

Approximately 5.75 - 6 litres of water are required to mix 25 kg of ARDEX K170 powder.

The mortar can be worked for approx. 1/2 hour at a temperature of +18°C - +20°C.

Lower temperatures lengthen the working time, higher temperatures shorten it.

ARDEX K170 makes it easy to fill irregularities and is so fluid that sanding is usually hardly necessary.

For levelling and applying thin layers, the mortar is spread with a trowel or a spreading skid, levelled and smoothed with a smoothing trowel fitted with an extension that allows standing work. In very low thicknesses (<3mm) the mortar can be smoothed by using a spiked roller, but only making a couple of passes at most.

On non-porous substrates, apply a minimum of a 1.5 mm layer.

Pumping:

On large surfaces, it can be applied using cylindrical or helical pumps that are capable of expelling 20-40 litres of mortar per minute. Before pumping the ARDEX K170 mixed with sand, we will need to lubricate the pipes and conduits by mixing 25 kg of ARDEX K170 and approximately 8 litres of water.

Do not use cement grout for lubrication.

If a stop in pumping of more than 30 minutes is required, clean the conduits and the pump itself.

Application of the mortar:

The ARDEX K170 mortar can be applied in a single pass, in layers of up to 1 to 15 mm thick.

For 15 mm top layers, the following lengthening is possible:

Material / Washing Granulometry Mixing ratio
Material Sand
Sand 0-4 mm 1 vol. 0,3 vol.

General rule:

The ARDEX K170 layer can be walked on after 3 hours at a temperature of +18°C - +20°C.

Subsequent applications must be carried out immediately after the walking-on time.

Before carrying out subsequent applications, when the ARDEX K170 surface is dry, a pre-priming must be carried out with a layer of ARDEX P51 diluted with water 1:3.

ARDEX K170 layers dry and harden quickly.

For thicknesses up to 10 mm, the ARDEX K170 surface can be coated after 36 hours (at +20°C). For thicker layers, the drying time is 3 days.

Work with ARDEX K170 at temperatures above +5°C and below +30°C. Protect the surface from sunlight and air currents to prevent too rapid drying.

ARDEX K170 is not suitable for outdoor applications or substrates subject to constant moisture.
