Self-levelling mortar for large surfaces

Field of application:

  • Levelling and renovation of concrete floors, cement-sand screeds, anhydrite or
  • cement and sand screeds, anhydrite or ceramic or natural stone
  • ceramic or natural stone.
  • Creation of smooth surfaces for the laying of ceramic tiles, natural stone, raised
  • ceramic tiles, natural stone, technical floors
  • light coatings,... in residential and commercial buildings subject to light traffic.
  • commercial buildings subject to light traffic.
  • For interiors.

Composition:

Grey powder with special cements and synthetic materials with good dispersion capacity. Mixed with water it results in a smooth, very fluid and self-levelling mortar. Pumpable. It can be worked for 30 minutes and can be walked on after 2-3 hours.

The mortar hardens by hydration and dries quickly into an almost tension-free mass, so that cracking is practically impossible, even in very thick layers.

Substrate preparation:

The substrate must be dry, hard, solid, rough and free of disintegrable elements.

To avoid the appearance of air bubbles and to improve adhesion on porous substrates, they must be prepared with Ardex P51, primer diluted with water in a 1:1 ratio. This coat must be applied over the entire surface using an industrial broom. No rollers, mops or spray equipment should be used in its application. Care should be taken not to leave puddles, if any, they should be removed by broom or brush. Once ARDEX P51 has been applied, it must be allowed to dry for at least 1 hour before ADICEM FLOW is applied.

Highly absorbent substrates will require the application of two coats of ARDEX P51 to avoid the appearance of bubbles or craters. A first coat of ARDEX P51 diluted 1:3 with water should be applied. Once the first coat is dry (min. 1 hour) a second coat diluted 1:1 with water can be applied.

Once the last coat of ARDEX P51 has been applied, it must be allowed to dry for at least 1 hour before ADICEM FLOW is applied.

On non-absorbent substrates ARDEX P82 or ARDEX P4 primers should be used. If ARDEX P82 is used, it is applied with a short nap roller leaving a thin transparent pink layer, no puddles or thick layers should be left. Once applied, ARDEX P82 is allowed to dry to a tacky film (min. one hour) before self-levelling is applied. When working with ARDEX P82 it is recommended to wear cleats (football boots) rather than spiked shoes to avoid damaging the primer film.

If ARDEX P4 is used, it should be applied uniformly by short nap roller, brush or spray. The primer must be allowed to dry to a thin white film for at least 1 hour. ARDEX P4 can be applied on absorbent substrates diluted 15% with water. In case of doubt, carry out a preliminary test.

Instructions for use:

Pour clear water into a clean container and mix the powder, stirring vigorously, until a fluid mortar without lumps is obtained.

Approximately 5 ¾-6 litres of water are required to mix 25 kg of ADICEM FLOW powder.

The mortar can be worked for approx. 1/2 an hour at a temperature of 18°C - 20°C.

Lower temperatures extend the working time, higher temperatures shorten the working time.

With ADICEM FLOW, irregularities can be easily filled and it is so fluid that a subsequent sanding treatment is generally not necessary.

For levelling and applying thin layers, the mortar is spread with a trowel or spreader trowel, levelled and smoothed by itself.

On non-porous substrates, apply at least a 1.5 mm layer.

Pumping:

On large surfaces, it can be applied using cylindrical or helical pumps capable of ejecting 20-40 litres of mortar per minute. Before pumping ADICEM FLOW, mixed with sand, it is necessary to lubricate the pipes and ducts by mixing 25 kg of ADICEM FLOW and approximately 8 litres of water.

Do not use cement slurry for lubrication.

If it is necessary to stop pumping for more than 30 minutes, the pipes and the pump itself must be cleaned.

Recommendations:

ADICEM FLOW coating with a temperature of 18°C - 20°C can be walked on after 3 hours.

Subsequent applications are to be carried out immediately after the application time.

Prior to subsequent applications, when the ADICEM FLOW surface is dry, a pre-priming coat of ARDEX P51 diluted with water 1:3 must be applied.

ADICEM FLOW coats dry and harden quickly. For thicknesses up to 10 mm the ADICEM FLOW surface can be coated after 36 hours (at 20°C). For thicker layers the drying time is 3 days.

ADICEM FLOW should be used at temperatures above +5°C and below +30°C.

Protect the surface from sunlight and draughts to avoid too fast drying.

ADICEM FLOW is not suitable for outdoor applications or substrates constantly subjected to humidity.

Caution:

Contains cement, alkaline reaction, therefore protect eyes and skin. In case of contact, rinse immediately with water. In case of contact with eyes, consult a doctor.

Once dry, does not affect physiologically and ecologically.
