Product description:
SEIREPOX COAT W is a water-based, solvent-free epoxy resin for multiple uses such as primer, anti-slip paint, self-levelling mortar, mortar binder, undercoat, intermediate coat, levelling coat and sealing coat in multi-layer coatings.
After hardening, SEIREPOX COAT W is resistant to the passage of water and against chemical agents.
Field of application:
- Applicable on damp substrates, fresh concrete, etc.
- Applicable on substrates that need to transpire, such as basements, screeds below the water table, etc.
- Applicable on screeds without vapour barrier
- Applicable in industrial floors, laboratories, warehouses, car parks, hangars, workshops, production and processing areas, and in general for installations with a medium intensity and frequency of traffic.
- Indoor use.
Substrate preparation:
The substrate must not be waterlogged and it must always be ensured that the humidity is less than 8% in addition to being level, hard, solid and free of grout, grease, dust or other loose particles such as paint, lime residues, mortar, plaster, adhesive residues, etc., which may impair adhesion.
Before mechanical preparation, varnish, wax, grease, oil and similar contaminants must be removed.
The preparation of the substrate must be carried out with a specialised machine; sanding, diamond or shot blasting machine, using one or the other depending on the state of the substrate. Subsequently, the substrate must be vacuumed.
Any joints or cracks in the concrete substrate where differential movement is expected (e.g. expansion joints) must be respected and properly sealed.
The substrate must have a tensile strength greater than 1.5 N/mm2.
Priming:
The substrates must be primed with SEIREPOX COAT W.
The primer can be diluted with a maximum of 20% water.
Mixing:
The individual components of SEIREPOX COAT W must be stirred before mixing.
Mix the two components thoroughly with a low speed stirrer for a minimum of 3 minutes.
Part of the mixture can be reintroduced into the hardener container to collect any residues that may remain in the container. The mixture that has been passed through the hardener container is reintroduced into the mixing container and stirred for a further 30 seconds. This mixing process ensures the consistency of the product and that any resin remaining in either container reacts, facilitating subsequent waste management. After mixing both components, 1 kg of SEIREPOX COAT W is workable for 25 minutes at a temperature between 18°C and 20°C.
Recommendations:
After mixing the two components of SEIREPOX COAT W, use it immediately.
Due to its aqueous nature, the material does not heat up at the end of the pot life, which is indicated by a high increase in viscosity.
Note that higher temperatures shorten the pot life and lower temperatures lengthen it.
Limitations:
Always use SEIREPOX COAT W at ambient and/or substrate temperatures not lower than 10°C and always at least 3°C above the dew point.
It must not be applied at ambient and/or substrate temperatures above 30°C or when the ambient humidity exceeds 85%. If the pot-life is exceeded the mixed product loses its characteristics and must be discarded.
Application method:
lmpriming:
Once the components A and B of SEIREPOX COAT
W, the material is applied directly onto the prepared substrate using a rubber lip or medium nap roller. The primer can be mixed and/or sprinkled with aggregate.
Anti-skid paint:
Once components A and 8 have been mixed, 0.03 kg of 0.6 mm quartz sand is added per kilo of mixture (3% aggregate). The mixture is applied with a medium nap roller. Self-levelling:
Once components A and B have been mixed, 1 kg of the following is added.
Self-levelling:
Once components A and B have been mixed, 1 kg of 0.6 mm quartz sand is added for each kilo of mixture. The material is poured onto the primed substrate and distributed with a notched trowel, so that the thickness can be controlled. A spiked roller should be passed over the surface immediately in order to facilitate the removal of the air trapped under the coating, until the bubbles are completely eliminated.
Multi-coat:
Once mixed SEIREPOX COAT W should be spread over the primed floor using a rubber lip. On top of the still wet SEIREPOX COAT
wet SEIREPOX COAT W is sanded to saturation with SEIRECUARZO. The next day the sanded surface is swept and vacuumed to remove the unadhered aggregate.
This operation can be repeated as many times as necessary until the desired thickness is achieved.
The finish coat of SEIREPOX COAT W, applied with a rubber lip or medium nap roller, seals the surface and encapsulates the aggregate.
Mortar:
SEIREPOX COAT W, once mixed with 0.9mm quartz sand in a 1:3 ratio, should be spread on the floor without delay using a rake and a levelling screed which supported on two guides will allow the desired thickness to be left, always applying a minimum of 4mm.
It is then compacted and smoothed with a metal trowel. To facilitate this operation, it is advisable to clean the trowel with water from time to time.
The mortar can be sealed with the same SEIREPOX COAT W before it has dried for 24 hours.
Under no circumstances should solvent or thinner be added.
Approximate consumption:
SEIREPOX COAT W
- As Primer 85 g/m2
- As an anti-skid paint 150 g/m2
- As Self Levelling 1:1 l.7 Kg/m2/mm
- As Multilayer 300 g/m2 per coat
- As Mortar 1:3 2.0 Kg/m2/mm
Cleaning tools:
SEIREPOX COAT W can be cleaned from tools and equipment immediately after use using water. In case the product hardens it can only be removed by mechanical means.
Residues and spills:
Spillage of any of the products must be collected immediately with sand, vermiculine or any other inert material and deposited in a suitable container for management. Waste management of these spills and empty containers should be carried out in accordance with local legislation.
For further information please refer to the safety data sheet.
Storage:
The shelf life of SEIREPOX COAT W is 12 months, in the original closed containers. Storage should be in a dry place between +5° C and +30° C. Protection from frost and direct sunlight and heat sources is required.
Precautions:
Irritating to eyes and skin, depending on sensitivity. Hazardous to health if swallowed.
In case of prolonged exposure may cause burns.
Avoid contact with eyes and skin. In case of contact with EYES, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice.
consult a doctor.
Mixing should be carried out with protective goggles and gloves. These safety precautions should also be observed when applying the product.
