Description

Two-component, water-based epoxy paint with visible Pot - Life finish that tolerates damp substrates. It gives the coated surfaces impermeability, ease of cleaning and medium mechanical and chemical performance as well as easy maintenance.

  • -Satin-gloss finish
  • -Material free of volatile organic solvents.
  • -After hardening, SEIREPOX 10W is waterproof, resistant to chemical agents, frost and weathering as well as breathable to water vapour.

Technical data:

  • Mixing ratio: As indicated on the packaging.
  • Density: Approx. 1.3 kg/L
  • Coverage: 0.2-0.3 kg/m2 per coat.
  • Working time (20°C): Approx. 40 minutes.
  • Dry to touch (20°C): After approx. 6 hours.
  • Total cure (20°C): 7 days.
  • Packaging: 10 kg and 25 kg net (A+B).
  • Storage: Approx. 12 months in dry places and in its original closed packaging.

Field of application:

Particularly suitable for application on garage floors, warehouses, light industry and other surfaces subject to light vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Coating in the pharmaceutical, food and chemical industry.

Coating of pipes, channels and tunnels, with little ventilation.

Finishing coat for industrial flooring.

Applicable on wet substrates

Indoor and outdoor use

Substrate preparation:

The substrate must not be waterlogged and it must always be ensured that the humidity is less than 8% in addition to being hard, solid and free of dust or other loose particles such as paint, remains of lime, mortar, plaster, adhesive residues, etc., which may impair adhesion to the substrate.

Before mechanical preparation, varnish, wax, grease, oil and similar contaminants must be removed. Contaminated concrete surfaces must be treated mechanically, either by sanding or diamond grinding, followed by vacuuming.

Any joints or cracks in the concrete substrate where differential movement is expected (e.g. expansion joints),

must be respected and properly sealed. The substrate must have a tensile strength greater than 1.5 N/mm2.

Priming:

Prior to the application of SEIREPOX 10W the substrates must be primed with SEIREPOX 10W itself either neat or diluted with 5-10% water depending on the absorption of the substrate. Do not allow more than 24 hours at 20ºC between coats. If this is not the case, sanding and re-priming is necessary. During application and curing, especially in confined areas such as warehouses, etc., adequate ventilation must be ensured.

Mixing:

The individual components of SEIREPOX 10W must be stirred before mixing. Mix the two components thoroughly with a low speed stirrer for a minimum of 3 minutes.

Part of the mixture can be reintroduced into the hardener container to collect any residues that may remain in the container. The mixture that has been passed through the hardener container is reintroduced into the mixing container and stirred for a further 30 seconds. This mixing process ensures the consistency of the product and that any resin remaining in either container reacts, facilitating subsequent waste management.

After mixing both components, 1Kg of SEIREPOX 10W is workable for 40 minutes at a temperature between 18°C and 20°C.

Recommendations:

After mixing the two components of SEIREPOX 10W, use it immediately.

Due to its aqueous nature, the material does not heat up at the end of the pot life, which is indicated by a high increase in viscosity.

Please note that higher temperatures shorten the pot life and lower temperatures lengthen the pot life.

Limitations:

Always use SEIREPOX 10W with ambient and/or substrate temperatures not lower than 10°C and always at least 3°C above the dew point.

Nor can it be applied at ambient and/or substrate temperatures above 30°C or when the ambient humidity exceeds 85%.

If the Pot - Life is exceeded, the mixed product loses its characteristics and must be discarded.

All SEIRE products are manufactured under strict quality controls and procedures, however, it is recommended when colour consistency is essential that the products used are from the same batch.

Mode of application:

1.- As a Paint:

Once components A and B have been mixed, the material is applied directly onto the primed substrate by short nap roller, brush or air-less. It must be ensured that the entire surface is completely painted and that no puddles of product remain.

The second coat should be applied as soon as the first coat is sufficiently cured. This curing time varies according to the ambient temperature (minimum 15 hours). Ventilation must be provided for the painted area.

2.- As a multi-layer:

A slightly textured finish that improves slip resistance can be given by seeding with fine quartz aggregate.

SEIREPOX 10W, once the components have been mixed, is applied directly onto the primed substrate using a short nap roller or brush. On top of the still wet layer, a 0.4 mm quartz aggregate is sprinkled to saturation.

The next day the sandblasted surface is swept and vacuumed to remove the unbonded aggregate.

This operation can be repeated as many times as necessary until the desired thickness is achieved.

The top coat of SEIREPOX 10W, applied with a short/medium nap roller, seals the surface and encapsulates the aggregate.

At no time should solvent or thinner be added.

Consumption:

Approximate consumption of SEIREPOX 10W is 0.2 to 0.3 kg/m² per coat.

Tool cleaning:

SEIREPOX 10W can be cleaned from tools and equipment immediately after use using water. In case the product hardens it can only be removed by mechanical means.

Residues/Spills:

Spillage of any of the products must be collected immediately with sand, vermiculite or other inert material and deposited in a suitable container for disposal.

Waste management of these spills and empty containers should be carried out in accordance with local legislation.
