ACRISIL PRIMER is a one-component primer based on a water-based acrylic dispersion. It is especially suitable as a primer for synthetic slurries on concrete substrates.
After hardening, ACRISIL IMPRIMACION is resistant to the passage of water, chemical agents and weathering.
Field of application:
- Protective primer for porous mineral substrates such as concrete and mortar against water, oils and chemicals.
- Primer for synthetic slurries
- Interior and exterior use
Substrate preparation:
The substrate must be hard, solid and free of laitance, grease, release agents, dust or other loose particles such as paint, lime residues, mortar, plaster, adhesive residues, etc., which may impair adhesion to the substrate.
Before mechanical preparation, varnish, wax, grease, oil and similar contaminants must be removed.
The preparation of the substrate must be carried out with specialised machinery; sanding, milling or shot blasting machines, using one or the other depending on the state of the substrate. Subsequently, the substrate shall be vacuumed.
The substrate may be damp but not waterlogged.
Any joints or cracks in the concrete substrate where differential movement is foreseen (e.g. expansion joints) must be respected and properly sealed.
Technical characteristics
- Colour: Off-white.
- Density: Approx. 1.02 Kg/litre.
- Coverage: For surface application, depending on the porosity of the substrate. Approx. 100-200 g/m² Approx. 300 g/ml.
- Dry to touch (20ºC): Approx. 2 hours.
- Packaging: 20 kg net weight cans.
- Storage: Approx. 6 months in dry places and in its original closed container.
Recommendations:
ACRISIL IMPRIMACION should be stirred before use.
Limitations:
Always use ACRISIL IMPRIMACION at room and/or substrate temperatures not lower than 10°C and always at least 3°C above the dew point.
Nor can it be applied at ambient and/or substrate temperatures above 30°C.
How to apply:
Apply by brush or roller, leaving a uniform film over the entire substrate without puddling.
It is necessary that the entire surface of the substrate is well impregnated and covered with ACRISIL IMPRIMACION.
On very porous substrates it may be necessary to apply two coats.
ACRISIL IMPRIMACIÓN must be left to dry for a minimum of two hours before applying the slurry.
Do not allow more than 24 hours to ensure good adhesion with the top coats.
During application and curing, especially in confined areas, adequate ventilation must be ensured.
Consumption:
The approximate consumption of ACRISIL IMPRIMACION is 100-200 g/m² depending on the porosity and roughness of the substrate.
Tool cleaning:
ACRISIL IMPRIMACION can be cleaned from tools and equipment with water immediately after use. In case the product hardens it can only be removed by mechanical means.
Residues/Spillages: Spillages of any of the products must be immediately collected with sand, vermiculite or any other inert material and deposited in a suitable container for its management.
Waste management of these spills and empty containers should be carried out in accordance with local legislation.
For further information refer to the safety data sheet.
Storage:
The shelf life of ACRISIL IMPRIMACION is 6 months, in the original closed containers. Storage should be in a dry place between +5º C and +30º C. Protection against frost, direct sunlight and heat sources is required.
Precautions:
Wear protective gloves and safety glasses during handling. See safety data sheet for further information.
If applied indoors, ensure good ventilation of the room. After drying the product is physiologically and ecologically neutral.
