Description

Structural concrete repair mortar, fiber-reinforced filler of cracks and holes. With corrosion-inhibiting additives, suitable for the conservation or restoration of passivation. High mechanical strength and compensated shrinkage to prevent the appearance of cracks.

Field of application:

To fill and reprofile holes and cuts in concrete structures with exposed reinforcement. To repair and level concrete surfaces, especially in aggressive environments. To repair prefabricated concrete elements and reinforced concrete structures such as slab edges, balcony slabs, beams and pillars. Repair of concrete construction parts, spalling in pillars, structural elements:

reinforced or prestressed concrete beams under static or dynamic loads and pillars, among others.

Resistant to sulphate attack, protects the reinforcement of the reconstructed elements against corrosion.

Indoor and outdoor use.

Properties:

Great adhesion to the support.

Sets by compensating for shrinkage, preventing the appearance of cracks.

High mechanical resistance, both short and long term.

Good chemical resistance, resistant to aggressive environments with the presence of sulphates.

Additives with corrosion inhibitors, protects the repairs carried out against corrosion.

Good resistance to abrasion.

Supports thicknesses of up to 70 mm.

Preparation of the support:

The surface of the support must be rough, firm and free of dust, dirt, layers of paint, plaster, splashes of lime and release agents and, in general, of any foreign element that may falsify the adhesion of the material to the support. The support must be sufficiently resistant to receive the ARDEX B16 mortar (min. tensile strength 1.5 N/mm2). Contaminated or damaged concrete areas must be removed until a resistant surface is found, the edges of the repair will be mechanically cut at a minimum depth of 5 mm.

Any visible reinforcement must be completely exposed so that it can be completely cleaned and covered with mortar. Exposed reinforcement will be mechanically cleaned to a minimum grade of Sa2. Immediately after thorough cleaning, the exposed reinforcement must be completely coated with ARDEX B16, avoiding leaving any gaps.

The ambient and substrate temperature where ARDEX B16 is to be applied must be at least +5°C and at most +30°C.

Primer:

It is recommended to thoroughly moisten the surface (especially in hot climates) preferably 24 hours, and at least 2 hours before, prior to the application of ARDEX B16. The surface must be damp and darkened, but without any exudation of water at the time of application of ARDEX B16.

As a general rule, ARDEX B16 does not require a bonding bridge for application on absorbent and rough substrates that have been suitably prepared and moistened.

On concrete surfaces with little or very little porosity, the adhesion of ARDEX B16 can be improved by using ADIPOX PLUS epoxy primer (see its Technical Data Sheet). The use of ADIPOX PLUS as a bonding bridge for ARDEX B16 increases its protection against reinforcement corrosion.

The application of ARDEX B16 over primers should be carried out wet on wet. Do not allow the bonding bridge to dry completely before application.

Application:

Pour clear water into a clean mixing vessel and add sufficient powder while stirring vigorously to produce a smooth, pasty, lump-free and stable mortar. Mix ARDEX B16 mortar in a forced action mixer or with a suitable hand-held electric stirrer (e.g. Collomix).

To mix 25 kg of ARDEX B16 powder, approx. 4 - 4.25 litres of water are required.

After a maturation time of approx. 2 minutes and after repeated stirring, the mortar can be used for approx.

60 minutes and applied up to 70 mm thickness in one operation. To do this, apply a contact coat of ARDEX B16 on the dampened substrate or on the still fresh primer, then apply the desired thickness using a trowel or ruler on previously made screeds. Use a trowel or spatula to outline and shape the edges and smooth the repair.

ARDEX B16 can be applied by hand, with a trowel and by spraying.

If a second coat is required, it should be applied when the previous coat has not yet fully hardened.

Smoothing the product using a damp sponge and a metal trowel or float can be carried out when the mortar begins to harden (at this point the mortar exhibits plastic behaviour).

Curing:

It is recommended to protect the fresh product from premature dehydration, frost, wind, high temperatures or direct sunlight using the usual methods (polyethylene sheets, wet fabrics, ...).

Precautions:

Contains cement. Irritating to eyes and skin. May cause serious eye damage. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and consult a doctor. If the victim is wearing contact lenses, remove them and continue rinsing.

Wear suitable protective gloves. Wash contaminated skin with soap and water.

In the set state it is physiologically and ecologically harmless.

Disposal of waste and empty containers must be carried out in accordance with applicable local/regional/national/international legislation.

GISCODE ZP1 = product with low chromate cement content.
